So the differences between body styles is really down to your own preference and budget. F30 sedan is likely the cheapest option, with F32 and F36 likely being slightly more expensive.

The differences you should be focusing on are the drivetrain variations between models/years. For instance, I would avoid the N20/26 engines in any 328i or 428i as they are prone to timing chain guide issues. The N55 and B58 6cylinder options in 335i/435i and 340i/440i are both great, with the B58 being one of the highest regarded motors in production currently. The B46/48 in the 330i and 430i are essentially a B58 with 2 less cylinders so they've been very well liked as well.

Then comes transmission. You can get the 6spd manual in the F30 and F32 but the F36 is auto only. That being said, the ZF8 auto transmission in all the F chassis cars is great.

Then rear wheel drive or x-drive. That, like body style, is a personal preference based on taste and needs.
