My daily work wear is a year 2000 Omega Seamaster (yes, the James Bond one!!! LOL) and I have a Tissot V8 for banging around (actually quite a nice watch considering it was only £300)
Currently lusting after another Omega- The Planet Ocean GMT or possibly a Rolex Sub or GMT II Even as kid I have always loved watches - I suppose as a fella they are our chance for some "bling"

I have a Hulk Submariner, a Breitling Aerospace (used to own an Emergency), and a couple of cheaper watches. Oh, and I wear an Apple Watch fairly frequently!

Omega Seamaster. Tougher than Dakota Leather and a design classic. 20yrs old this watch now and with a clean looks like new. Bought before the Bond phase so still on 'the cool wall'
Also have a Tag Heur Monza which is beautiful but upstairs so CBA a photo

I'm not normally a Rolex fan, but I like that one quite a lot.

As I'm looking/dreaming of a new watch what do you think of these, I really like the sports Rolex on a rubber strap, the other one is a IWC Ceramic/Titanium Da Vinci (which I also love)

Are the Rolex cheaper with the rubber or is it something you add afterwards

Yep the IWC is the one my heart wants, that particular da vinci model has been discontinued but I've found one in a Luxembourg dealer. Head says Rolex though.

A Rolex sports watch is always a safe bet and a classic look. That IWC is very beautiful and much more unique. I used to have an IWC Big pilots chronograph and it was such a lovely and high quality item. It kept way better time than my Rolex does and the chronograph movement was a thing of pure mechanical joy to use.

£6500 it's a 2013 used example, retail was around 10-11k so they lose money big time.

A Swiss watch overhauler that we know reasonably well says that Rolex movements are some of the poorest around. He overhauls and services watches worth tens of thousands of pound daily and said to me if you want a watch to tell the time very well then buy a seiko or citizen Japanese movements as they are the best most reliable movements around. Never need servicing and last years of daily wearing.
If you want a piece of jewellery which is not so good at telling the time and needs servicing every few year then buy Swiss. |

I called my AD as soon as it was announced basically. And I have a good relationship with them and I think that helped to prioritise my order somewhat
