F30 330D Stage 1 results
After fixing my oil consumption with a £20 PCV, decided to go for Stage 1 !!
Went for a stage 1 from Dervtech with a gearbox flash. Happy with the results the car feels like even more of a weapon now! He done a base run of 266HP and 553NM Stage 1 tune of 320HP and 622NM He said the DPF held back the torque figures which can be up to 750NM at Stage 1 Very happy with the results!! Barely got to use it yet but I’ve been smiling ear to ear when I put my foot down! Pulled out of a car park in Comfort and Drive on cold tyres and done an accidental drift hahaha!! |

So it was the PCV in the end?! Well happy days then! It's not often BMW reward us with a cheap fix!
Good results with the remap You might want to consider the 335d intercooler, especially for the summer months! Last edited by TurboWeasel; 04-25-2024 at 04:09 AM.. |

I would hope so! He said there was nothing weird on the data logs so you’re probably right!

Are you still running the standard 0W30 oil? Try 5W40 instead as it might slow the consumption down a bit until the snail is replaced.
Annoying really as it's clearly delivering the boost, but just pissing oil out. The car looks in fine fettle, so it's worth persevering with. |

In my experience, once the oil flingers on tje turbo shaft are out of tolerance there’s not much that can be done.

Naturally you can't just replace those....well, you can technically....but the labour involved in removal and strip down isn't worth, just fling a new unit on. Happened on both Borg Warner and Garrett turbos, so doesn't appear to be a brand specific weakness. It's a good opportunity to upgrade to a ball bearing turbo as they need considerably less oil volume and pressure than journal bearing turbos. |

Now you need XHP gearbox tune, stage 3. Drives normal in comfort but put it in sport and it totally changes how the car drives. Honestly you'll be amazed at the difference.

Hmmmm, having done around 5000 miles with XHP, it's very much circumstantial. I sit in heavy traffic every day and I find Stage 3 too jolty for my tastes, especially in the lower gears.
I've settled on Stage 1 with the stock shift points as it's the smoothest for the journeys I do. I know Stage 1 more or less feels stock, but the advantage is you can still set the torque limits per gear, which removes the torque limiting flat spots of the stock map. |

I've got it set on stage 2 now with relaxed+ shift maps in comfort & a slightly more sporty shift map for the more sporty modes. This feels more fitting to my Remapped 430d and make use of the big torque. |
