F36 Navigation maps 'loading' screen
Hi, purchased and installed Apple Carplay FSC code for an ID5 system. Installed Carplay using 'remote feature installer for BMW cars' program. Apple carplay works fine but BMW maps works for a few minutes and then just shows a 'Loading' screen. You cant go into it. I know carplay maps are probably better but would also like to have BMW maps/heads up working.
Tried to downgrade back to original, which removed Apple Carplay and the navigation screen now asks for activation code. Reinstalled Apple Carplay and maps work for a bit then show loading screen again. Updated maps to 2022 version but the same issue. Also noticed that the ID5 screen looks like ID6 screen after upgrade, which then goes back to ID5 after downgrade. Have attached screenshot of the FSC status, is one of them maps and possible not active? |

0124 is the FSC code for Australian EVO
00A0 is the nav application 0143 is Carplay Mine looks like (from the same application obviously) 006F0001: NotAvailable 009C0001: Accepted 009E0001: NotAvailable 009F0001: NotAvailable 00A00001: Accepted 00E50001: Accepted 01240062: Accepted 01430001: Accepted 016E0001: Accepted 016F0001: Accepted 01700001: NotAvailable If you've got newer maps than the FSC that is loaded it will do what you say. You'd need to downgrade the maps to match that. |

With the feature installer version you don't really need an FSC. That's essentially what it is doing - overriding the need for a FSC or allowing one signed by someone other than BMW to work.

But doesnt the feature installer ask for an FSC code when it identifies the car? How do you use feature installer if you dont have the code and how does it know what options to activate (like apple carplay)?

So if that's what it's doing, it does need an FSC but it's all handled by the app when installing. It probably is just activating everything because why not. It's all "automatic" and doesn't request an FSC from the end user. I'm interested to know what you did as an extra operation when you said "you needed another FSC code"? You mean you just removed it and reinstalled it? |
